• Dept of ED: CALPADS ‘in critical danger of failure’; IBM – Not so fast

John Fensterwald at Educated Guess reports that IBM’s response to the Department of Education’s termination threat letter regarding the CALPADS project of just a few weeks ago appears to be somewhat phlegmatic. The Department’s consultant had concluded that CALPADS was “in critical danger of project/system failure.” The Department wrote that it [had determined that IBM’s “substandard work” constituted a material breach of the CALPADS contract].

    Ouch.

However, filing this story under the heading of “different wavelengths”, Fensterwald writes that IBM’s response insisted that it remained on track to deliver the completed system by the end of June.
