• NCAA Tournament Brackets & CalNet3 Phase 1: What Do They Have in Common?

The Tables are Set! That’s right.

Sixty-eight college basketball teams, and not quite as many CalNet3 Prequalified Multiple Award Contract (PMAC) awardees.

The CalNet3 Telecom Procurement team announced this week another eight vendors who have been prequalified for Phase 2 Invitations for Bids (IFB). Several previous PMAC awardee vendors were also prequalified for additional categories.

This announcement brings the PMAC pool to 29 vendors, almost 15 times more than CalNet2. Who knows, with another 13 CalNet3 categories to go, perhaps there will eventually be 68 vendors included as well!

Don’t get me wrong, this should be great for competition, the latest technology, and most of all better pricing, But the devil’s in the details, as they say, and hopefully the IFB’s will be crafted to take advantage of these invaluable factors. Nothing would be worse than to see all these vendors prequalified in the CalNet3 vendor pool, and then see only two or three bidders responding to the IFB’s.

Here a matrix with the new Awardees: (BTW, here’s the Round 1 PMAC Awardees)
